Boardman winters are no joke. Lake-effect freeze cycles in November through March push exposed pipes past their breaking point, especially against exterior walls and in unheated crawl spaces. Frost line here is 42", which is why outdoor faucets need to be shut off and drained every fall.

Spring snowmelt

From February through April, Boardman basements take a beating. Snow on heavy clay soil melts faster than the ground can absorb it, water table rises, and any weak point in your foundation finds it. This is when we get the most sump pump failure and basement flooding calls of the entire year.

Local housing stock

Boardman is dominated by 1950s–1980s ranch and split-level subdivisions on heavy Mahoning Valley clay. Most homes have copper supply lines, PVC drains, and finished basements with sump pumps — sump failures and clay-driven hydrostatic pressure are the leading basement-water complaints.
